Dominique Molard
(percussions)
Dominique
belongs to this musicians’ generation from the 80’s. He has played for a
long time in Bagad (head of the drums section in different Bagadoù :
SAINT-MALO, DOUARNENEZ, BLEIMOR et KEVREN BREST SANT MARK). He becomes
teacher at the school music of DOUARNENEZ and then turns to the
percussions. Nowadays, he is in charge of “Percussions” work-groups for
amateur musicians but also within the context of the formation of the
musical theory teachers of the music schools in the department
Finistère.
Thanks to
his knowledge of the Breton music and his natural attraction for the
world music, Dominique has managed to link the traditional Breton music
and the different rhytmical influences coming from all over the world.
At present, Dominique dedicates himself to his creation “STOK AN DANS”
with his musicians colleagues : the percussions tissent la trame
of the Breton dance and take part in the metamorphosis of the “Festoù
Noz”, that the diversification of the repertoires has profoundly
modified.
Dominique
MOLARD has become in a few years, like his brothers Jacky and Patrick,
one of the musicians of the traditional music in Britanny that can’t be
ignored. Present by the side of important groups and musicians, he
interprets varied instruments, from the caisse claire to the
indian tabla, from the derbouka to the bodhran, from the bones to
the bamboo, from the balafon to the steel drum…
